Today, the President of FIBA Europe, Turgay Demirel has sent a congratulatory note to the President of the Kosovo Basketball Federation, Erolld Belegu. In the letter, amongst others, Demirel congratulated Belegu on the excellent presentation of Kosovo in the European Championship U16: “I write to congratulate you, your national team, and your federation on the silver medal at the European Championship U16 Men Division C. This is a terrific accomplishment for Kosovo, particularly since it is the first summer your national teams have competed in FIBA Europe competitions. I know this will be the first of many successes for the Kosovo Basketball Federation in the years ahead. I want to take this opportunity to reiterate how happy I am to have Kosovo as part of the FIBA Europe family. I look forward to continuing to work with you and your federation, and I hope to see you soon.
It should be noted that the U16 NT of Kosovo has participated in the European Championship U16, Division C, which took place in San Marino from 6 until 11 July 2015. Kosovo U16 was defeated in the finals by the host, whereas Etnik Peci was named MVP of the European Championship and was in top five of this prestigious competition.
