It is the fourth day of the intensive course for coaches and FIBA Instructor, Tone Krump is very happy with the flow of the course so far, and also with the work of coaches and participants. At the same time he asked for more work and commitment from them, considering that the will and motivation of coaches should be at the highest level, if one day they want to be very successful in their profession.

“The main goal of the course is coaches’ education. We will focus in topics such as working with youth categories, more specifically with young people aged 9 to 19 years old. So, through this course we will try to give a clearer picture of how coaches should organize their work and prepare plans and programs at the clubs where they work. After the course the coaches should continue to apply the methods used during the 10 days of the course. It takes a lot of work to become a successful coach and the coaches should be aware of that fact, and by that I mean that they have to sacrifice and invest in themselves. They always have to be updated, through research, courses, seminars and trainings. So, nothing ends with this course, this is only the base and they should start from here and continue with their work,” said Krump.

Coach of BC Trepca, Ilir Selami said that the course is very welcoming for our coaches. “A lot of work has been done during these four days. The first two days were very difficult but then we got into the system and started to understand the Instructor. He asks a lot from us and that is a very positive fact, because he isn’t leading the course alone but we are all doing it together. I believe that we will have a lot of important and interesting lectures during the upcoming days” stated Selmani.

The course is organized by the Kosovo Basketball Federation, in cooperation with the Kosovo Olympic Committee and Coaches Association. The course began on February 24th and will end on March 3rd.

The program is supported by the Olympic Solidarity, the biggest foundation within the International Olympic Committee (IOC), for the development of sports in different countries of the world. KBF is the first sports federation from Kosovo to win a grant from the Olympic Solidarity and in one of the most sensitive areas, that of increasing the capacity of coaches.

Coaches’ course will enable Kosovo coaches for the first time ever to receive certificates from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) signed by a FIBA expert, for a course that takes place in Kosovo. Coaches that will miss even one lecture will not be able to receive the above-mentioned certificates.
