Kosovo Basketball Federation has applied for a membership in FIBA. The application was handed by the President of KBF, Mr. Erolld Belegu, during his meeting with the Secretary General of FIBA, Mr. Patrick Baumann, FIBA Vice-President and President of FIBA Europe, Mr. Turgay Demirel and Secretary General of FIBA Europe, Mr. Kamil Novak.
KBF delegation, led by President Mr. Belegu composed of Board members, Mr. Arben Fetahu and Mr. Valton Bilalli and Secretary Genereal, Mr. Leart Hoxha, after handing the membership application, were informed that the answer will be known during March 12-13 after FIBA’s Executive Committee meeting.
FIBA Europe Officials also confirmed that Kosovo is expected to participate in European Championships for Youth Categories, after the official confirmation of FIBA Executive Committee. More on the group-age of those who can compete in the European Championships will be announced during March 2015.
According to FIBA Senior Officials and Governance & Legal Affairs Senior Manager, Mr. Benjamin Cohen, Kosovo’s application is a high quality document and contains all the elements required by his office.
During the day, KBF Board Member, Mr. Valton Bilalli and Secretary General, Mr. Leart Hoxha met with the Sport & Development Senior Assistant, Mr. Florian Pasquet and they discussed about FIBA’s help and support for KBF regarding the Junior National Team, Coaches Association and development programs.
