Basketball Club Borea from Peja will be the eighth club of Men’s First League. The decision was taken today by the Board of the Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF). The team from Peja paid the amount of 1,000.00 euros for the Wild Card, thus fulfilling the conditions set by the Board of KBF and will compete in Men’s First League 2016/17.
A few days ago, the Board of KBF approved the proposal of the Competition Commissioner to add one more club from Men’s Second League to the Men’s First League, which had 7 teams.
The Board of KBF gave the opportunity to the teams of Men’s Second League to secure a place in Men’s First League through the "Wild Card".
There were two teams, BC Borea (Peja) and BC United Basketball (Gjilan) that have applied from the Second League, which have met the criteria for licensing under the Regulation for systematization and licensing of clubs, after presenting the roster with 12 and more players and coaches, and also have a team of youth categories.
BC Borea is a team consisting of former players of BC Peja and has the support of the Municipality of Peja, who has paid for "Wild Card", has young players and has the opportunity to be one of the best teams in Men’s First League.
Meanwhile, BC United Basketball from Gjilan consists of several basketball players who have left BC Drita, where they have been active until last season.
