Public Communication

13 October 2014

Kosovo Basketball Federation, through this Public Communication would like to clarify one more time that all clubs are obliged to respect the procedures for the international transfer of basketball players.

Regulation for Registration and Transfer of Players (Article 47), clearly defines the procedure of international transfer and registration of basketball players and also defines the time and documents necessary for their registration to KBF.

We would also like to clarify that on 09.10.2014; BC Peja has sent an email requesting the registration of two foreign players: Radomir Marojevic (MNE) Jan Mocnik (SLO).

BC Peja did not have the completed documentation needed for the Request of LoC. A day later (10.10.2014), BC Peja sent some of the documents for these two players.

Once these documents were received, KBF sent a request to FIBA for the LoC of these two players but did not get any reply yet.

The above mentioned players have no right to play in BC Peja’s matches until their LoC is issued and their registration in KBF is completed.

Furthermore, we would like to deny Peja’s allegations published in some media and on Facebook that supposedly KBF made a decision not to let them play 20 minutes before the match between BC Sigal Prishtina and BC Peja.

KBF did not make any “special” decidion regarding this or any other match. KBF has approved Competition Propositions, Regulation for Registration and Transfer of Players and other normative acts by which it administers the competitions and all clubs are obligated to adhere to these normative acts.

It wasn’t Kosovo Basketball Federation’s decision to not issue the LoC’s for these two players and in no way can be interpreted differently.

The negligence of the Administration Office of BC Peja, who were not able to fill out two forms and scan two passports, should not be treated as deficiency of KBF and we will not allow Bc Peja or any other party to misinform or deceive the public.

While asking from the clubs to refrain to the regulations and other normative acts, especially regarding international transfers of players who also have specific deadlines, we remind our members and the public opinion that we remain strongly committed to further develop basketball in Kosovo.
