Kosovo was defeated in the last game of the European Championship U20, Division B, in Hungary. In the seventh game, the NT of Kosovo was not physically able to play against Switzerland. From the first minutes of the game, when after a series of 7:0 Switzerland created a lead 9:2, it was known that Kosovo will have serious problems during the game. In the first quarter, Kosovo had 4 rebounds, whereas Switzerland had 17 and concluded the first ten minutes of the game with the result 25:18. Switzerland won 81:59 and took the thirteenth place in this championship. European U20 ends with the closing ceremony, to be held after the finals between Sweden and Finland, which starts at 20:15h.
Meanwhile, Secretary General of the Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF), Leart Hoxha, who is part of Kosovo’s U20 delegation, in Hungary, evaluated our team’s performance during this competition: “The participation in the European Championship is a great success for KBF. We got positive evaluation by the organizers of the competition and we didn’t get any serious warning from FIBA. If everything goes well with the closing ceremony, I can honestly say that we were successfully represented in the European Championship. Regarding the sports part, I think that the players and the coaches have had the chance to benefit a lot from this championship. I don’t want to get in details, but I will say that 7 games in 10 days is a killer tempo for the players of Kosovo and this is the first thing that we should focus on when we get back.”
