The intensive course for basketball coaches which was led by the FIBA Instructor, Tone Krump, has ended.

30 coaches from Kosovo attended the course that started on February 24th and ended on March 3rd. The course was held at the ISP College, in Marigona Residence.

Organizers of the course were the Kosovo Basketball Federation in cooperation with the Kosovo Olympic Committee and Basketball Coaches Association of Kosovo.

The course was supported by the Olympic Solidarity, the biggest foundation within the International Olympic Committee (IOC), for the development of sports in different countries of the world. KBF is the first sports federation from Kosovo to win a grant from the Olympic Solidarity and in one of the most sensitive areas, that of increasing the capacity of coaches.

The course has enabled Kosovo coaches for the first time ever to receive certificates from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) signed by a FIBA expert. The certificates were given in the last day of the course by the President of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Besim Hasani, Vice president of the Kosovo Olympic Committee, Shasivar Haxhijaj, Secretary General of the Kosovo Basketball Federation, Leart Hoxha and FIBA Instructor, Tone Krump.

In the end, Secretary of the Coaches Association, Fikret Shatri honored Mr. Krump with a plaque in appreciation of his contribution in the course.

Tone Krump, FIBA Instructor: “It was a great pleasure to be part of this ten day course, where I had the chance to meet young and motivated coaches. I would like to thank the Kosovo Basketball Federation,    Kosovo Olympic Committee and Basketball Coaches Association of Kosovo for organizing the course so well. I believe that during these ten days we’ve done a great work. The most important thing is that there was a great will for work. The coaches were eager to learn. When the course ends, the coaches should continue to apply the methods used during the 10 days of the course. It takes a lot of work to become a successful coach and the coaches should be aware of that fact, and by that I mean that they have to sacrifice and invest a lot in themselves. They always have to be updated, through research, courses, seminars and trainings. So, nothing ends with this course, this is only the base and they should start from here and continue with their work.”

Arben Krasniqi, President of the Coaches Association: “The main goal of the course is coaches’ education. We will focus in topics such as working with youth categories, more specifically with young people aged 9 to 19 years old. So, through this course we will try to give a clearer picture of how coaches should organize their work and prepare plans and programs at the clubs where they work. After the course the coaches should continue to apply the methods used during the 10 days of the course in the clubs where they work. Among the coaches participating in the course, some of them are very promising but they need to continue to work, because basketball requires more work and commitment.”
