The clinic for Potential National Referees took place from 23 until 26 February, in Gjakova.

Organizers of the event were Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF) and FIBA.

Participants at the clinic were 6 referees from Kosovo, 2 from Macedonia, 2 from Bosnia and Herzegovina, while the clinic was led by FIBA Instructors, Dragan Medan and Gjorgji Piperkov.

The clinic was divided into three parts: theory, tests and practice. In addition to the tests and lectures, the referees had the opportunity to officiate in games that were organized specifically for this activity, and also in two games of round XIX of the Kosovo Superleague.

On the last day of the seminar, the two above-mentioned instructors said:

Dragan Medan:

“During these three days we have done a very good job. We’ve had the opportunity to watch parts of the games, discuss, and see what can be done better in the future. The games where these referees officiated have been difficult games and the referees were at the appropriate level, which is commendable. But we cannot be satisfied with that, we must continue to work even harder so that in the future, some of you will become FIBA referees. At the same time I want to thank the Kosovo Basketball Federation for doing such a good job organizing this event, and I will make sure to write that in my report to FIBA."

Gjorgji Piperkov:

"This is the second time that such a clinic is organized in Kosovo and it’s no coincidence why FIBA has decided so. The work that KBF is doing led by Erolld Belegu, Acting Secretary General Elvira Dushku and Faton Kurshumlija National Instructor and hard worker, is commendable. All these elements made the clinic successful. I wish that very soon Kosovo will have its referees in FIBA and with the work that is being done I will not be surprised if that happens in the summer. My report to FIBA will be positive for all that we have done during these three days in Gjakova ".

Also, the National Instructor of KBF, Faton Kurshumlija was satisfied with the clinic. He said that during these three days the participating referees have been very cooperative, they’ve worked in groups, and they did the same of the floor while officiating. Kurshumlija said that he is motivated to continue to work even harder with the referees so that in the future we’ll achieve our goal and send our referees to official FIBA competitions.
