The Kosovan derby of the Sigal Uniqa Balkan League (BIBL), between Trepca and Peja that took place in “Minatori” hall, in Mitrovica was terminated. As a result the victory belonged to the guests with the official result 20:0.

Such thing was announced on Wednesday night, by BIBL officials in the official website of the Balkan League

“With 5:33 to go in the third quarter and Peja leading 54-47, the home fans started throwing objects on the court and one of the referees and one of the visiting team′s players were hit. At that point the referees decided to empty the gym but as the fans refused to leave it for a long time, the match was suspended. Afterwards the Balkan League published in their official website that the Sports Director of Sigal Uniqa Balkan League, Shay Shtriks together with the President of the Kosovo Basketball Federation, Erolld Belegu and the competition commissioner decided that the game Trepca – Peja has to be stopped and cannot continue. All that means that a 20-0 win for Peja is awarded and in the same time no points for Trepca. BIBL will take further actions and decision according to the regulations after receiving the official report by the commissioner”, stated in the official announcement of the Balkan League.

However, despite BIBL’s announcement that the Sports Director of Sigal Uniqa Balkan League, Shay Shtriks together with the President of the Kosovo Basketball Federation, Erolld Belegu and the competition commissioner decided that the game Trepca – Peja has to be stopped and cannot continue, Belegu said that that’s not what happened, because according to him only the referee can take such decision. He added that he was part of the discussions with all parties, but he never interfered with the decision.
