9 May 2015

Finals fever, of the ETC Super League "Play-Offs" will start on Sunday, where the two old and sworn rivals, Sigal Prishtina and Peja, will meet. These two teams have fought for the trophy in the last three years, while the rivalry this season is even bigger and this is proven by the fact that Peja won IPKO Cup of Kosovo, defeating Prishtina in the finals. However, Sigal Prishtina has triumphed in Salamander Super Cup and in the Balkan League.

The success motivates both teams to give their best and in the same time to please their fans.

The first game between Prishtina and Peja will take place on Sunday, at 20:30hrs, at the Youth Center, Prishtina.

Sigal Prishtina eliminated Golden Eagle Ylli, in the semi-finals with the result 3:1, whilst Peja had to play four games in order to qualify for the big final. Peja has defeated Kosova e Re Bashkimi with the result 3:1 in the semi-finals.

This season, Prishtina and Peja have one victory each.

Sigal Prishtina is the reigning champion and last season it defeated Peja 3:0.

The finals system for this season is 1-1-1-1-1, where the advantage of the home team goes to Prishtina after it got ranked in the first place on board during the regular edition. The winner of the title will be the team that reaches 3 wins out of 5 possible games.

Prishtina and Peja have met 5 times in the Play-Off finals, post war. Prishtina won twice with the result 3:0 and once with the result 3:1, whereas Peja won twice with the result 3:0, in 2004 and 2013.

This is what the coaches of these teams had to say about the Sundays match and the finals:

Marjan Ilievski: “It is a great atmosphere inside the team and I expect a full support from the fans, during the finals. It is going to be a difficult game with Peja and our job won’t be easy. We won’t underestimate the opponent, in contrary we will enter the game with the utmost seriousness and show our game, like we did in the spring season”.

Boris Kurtovic: “We are ready for this game and I expect the maximum from my players. I believe that they will be fully committed to winning this game.  We lost two times to Prishtina, but this shouldn’t happen in the finals. It won’t be easy. Normally, as a coach I have to be very optimistic. But these are the finals and we have to take one game at a time. You never know about the finals and I hope that we won’t have injuries, which is very important”.
