The President of the Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF), Arben Fetahu participated in a video conference organized by President of FIBA Europe, Turgay Demirel, and Vice Presidents Jean Pierre Siutat, Carmen Tocala, and John Goncalves.
The president reported on the current situation in local basketball, suspension of competitions, current and potential problems that could be faced in the future in the basketball sphere, and presented his ideas regarding possible support from the world basketball organization during the phase of recovery from the pandemic effect created by COVID-19.
President also informed the leaders of FIBA Europe about three important strategic and structural processes in which the KBF is currently engaged - drafting 2021-2025 strategic work plan, creating an educational system, and setting the criteria for licensing of basketball coaches and basketball schools in our country. Various competitions and tournaments for youth teams that will not compete in European Championships this year were one of the discussed topics as well.
Important decisions for European basketball are expected to be announced after the meeting of FIBA Europe Executive Board on May 11, 2020.
