The inaugural draw for the FIBA Europe Cup - FIBA's second-tier European men's club competition - took place in Freising, Germany on Tuesday afternoon.

56 teams from across Europe will compete in the new European FIBA club competition, of which 17 are current national champions and a further 13 were runners-up in their respective domestic championships last season.

The name of the new club competition was also unveiled on Tuesday.

"When naming the competition, the key factors we took into consideration were that the name should be easy to remember, recognisable and representative of FIBA as an organisation. I believe the FIBA Europe Cup achieves our aims and I am excited about this new direction we are taking," commented FIBA Executive Director Europe, Kamil Novak, who started Tuesday's proceedings.

The teams were geographically drawn into two conferences which also take into account the number of participating teams from each nation. Each conference consists of seven groups of four clubs each.

Each club will play the remaining three in their group in a home-and-away format with the top two teams from each group, along with the four best-placed third place teams advancing to the Round of 32.

The Round of 32 will follow the same format as the Regular Season, with the two best-placed clubs from each group advancing to the Last 16 Play-Offs.

The tournament Final Four is set to take place from 29 April to 1 May 2016.

The only team from Kosovo to compete in this league, Sigal Prishtina is part of Conference 2, and will compete in Group K with Energia Targu Jiu (Romania), BC Astana (Kazakhstan) and AEK Larnaca (Cyprus).
