KB Trepca finished its first season in SIGAL-UNIQA Balkan League with a thrilling 80-78 win over KK Sutjeska. The team from Mitrovica has 4 victories and 6 defeats, but could not advance to the Second Stage of the competition. On the other side, KK Sutjeska had already secured its position in the Top 8 by 5 wins and 5 defeats.
KK Sutjeska started on a good note and went ahead by 15-8 early in the first quarter. However, nothing was over for KB Trepca, who needed a little bit more than a minute to tie it at 15-15. The guest from Kosovo stayed focused and had a four-point lead after 10 minutes on the court. The second period was Harrison Turpin and Montreal showtime. The American duo was on fire and led the team to 52-39 at half time.
KK Sutjeska trailed by 18 points midway through the third quarter before rallying to held its opponent scoreless for two minutes in the final quarter and managed to stay close. Although the Montenegrin team cut its deficit to 67-73, Trepca used another 5-0 burst to gain another six-point advantage.
Igor Cvorovic tied the game at 78-78 on a lay up with a minute to go in regulation, but then Jeremy Wise hit the game-winner on a jump shot to prevent an overtime.
Stutz Frederic (8 rebounds) and Montreal Scott (9 rebounds) combined for 38 points for the winners, each by scoring 19, while Jeremy Wise (6 assists) and Harrison Turpin added 14 points each.
Igor Cvorovic had 18 points in defeat. Jayon James scored 13, and Marko Perovic collected 10 points and 6 rebounds.
