  • Two-day-Clinic for basketball coaches, facilitated by Mehmed and Sani Becirovic ended
31 May 2017

The International Coaches’ Clinic for basketball was held this weekend (27th and 28th of May, 2017) in Prishtina. The Clinic is organized by the Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBF) in cooperation with the Kosovo Association of Basketball Coaches (KABC), which was facilitated by Mehmed and Sani Becirovic from Slovenia, Arben Krasniqi and Korab Maloku and Besnik Podvorica from Kosovo. This is the first Clinic organized within the Coaches Education and Licensing Program, known as a new program of KBF and KABC, within which, clinics, seminars and workshops, including coaches testing are organised in order that by the end of September, the coaches will be equipped with coach’s licence for 2017/2018 future basketball edition. 70 coaches from the total number of 100 members of the Education and Licencing Program database were present in the Clinic. Coaches that were not present in the Clinic and those that will not attend future activities of the Program will face great difficulties to be equipped with the coach’s licence for future edition. Coaches Mehmed and Sani Becirovic had good impressions about the flow of the Clinic and with everything they have seen in Kosovo for the past three days.

Mehmed Becirovic: “I am very content for having the opportunity to come to Kosovo and lecture and contribute to development of coaches in Kosovo. I want to thank the Kosovo Basketball Federation (KBA) for giving me this chance because it was a real honour to be here. It was an intensive two-day-Clinic, in which, I had the chance to share my experience with Kosovo coaches and convey my tips and advices, which I hope will be fruitful for them in the future and they, Kosovo coaches, will use them. Coach’s job is very difficult because it requires maximal commitment, focus, investment on you and, the most important thing is that, it requires will and positivity to do something for yourself. I believe that the Federation, upon the creation of the Program and with the experience of Tone Krump, will do a good job and in the future, Kosovo will have sufficient number of local coaches to lead the teams and National Teams both, inside and outside”.

Sani Becirovic: “I am very happy to come to Kosovo and I am satisfied with everything that I have seen in the past three days of my stay here. I have had the chance to meet people that lead the Federation, the Association of Coaches and coaches that lead different teams in this country and I have created my impression about the situation of basketball in Kosovo for which, I believe that with great work and commitment like now, a bright future is on the way. Regarding the Clinic, I can say that I am happy with the number of attendees, with the organisation, with the demonstration of children and with the coaches and their questions raised during the lectures that I facilitated. I am really happy to come to Kosovo because this gave me the chance to gain experience in a new field for me, respectively in the field of coach’s vocation”.

It is worth underlining that Mehmed Becirovic was the selector of Slovenia’s National Team in the World Championship, which was held in 2010, in Istanbul and Sani Becirovic was member of the Slovenian National Team, whilst he played for popular basketball teams of Europe such as: Union Olimpija, CSKA Moska, Benetton Treviso, etc. The International Coaches’ Clinic was held at Marigona Residence, in Prishtina, to be exact at the ISP College facility.
