Four potential coaches from Kosovo that have been staying in Istanbul, Turkey, from 1 until 6 November are: Izet Tahiri, Qendrim Demi, Besnik Podvorica and Genti Zeka.
The visit of the potential coaches is part of the Youth Development Fund (YDF) program in FIBA Europe, called "New Generation Development Project".
"New Generation Development Project”, which will last 2 years (2016/17) is led by the Basketball Federation of Turkey, and its implementing partners are Bulgaria, Romania, Kosovo and Macedonia.
The manager of the project for Kosovo, Faton Kurshumlija, who was part of this visit, said that during their 5 day stay in Istanbul, the Federation of Turkey made sure our coaches saw up-close how the biggest clubs in Turkey such as Galatasaray, Fenerbahce, Anadolu Efes etc. work with youth generation.
“During this visit, coaches from Kosovo, Bulgaria, Romania and Macedonia had the opportunity to visit the biggest basketball clubs in Turkey, and also attend their practices, in order to gain as much basic knowledge about basketball as possible. At the same time, they have had the opportunity to listen to lectures on various topics from basketball strategists from Turkey. Also, during their visits to the clubs our coaches met with coaches of youth categories in Turkey, which is a very good opportunity for the exchange of mutual experiences, "said Kurshumlija.
It should be noted that the "New Generation Development Project" began this summer with the selection camps organized in the four abovementioned countries (for boys born in 2002 and younger). The first joint International camp was organized afterwards and was attended by 120 children from Romania, Bulgaria, Kosovo, Macedonia, and 6 coaches and 1 manager from each federation. The study visit of the coaches took place now in Turkey, while in mid-December will take place the first international tournament, which will be held in Macedonia.
The purpose of this project is the international experience, cultural interaction, to build and strengthen relationships among partners.
