Chairman of the Basketball Federation of Kosovo (FBK), Erolld Belegu has resigned irrevocably from the post of president in KBF, and this decision was announced at the KBF Board meeting held in the federation’s office afternoon.
In February, he had announced his resignation to the Executive Committee of KBF after the Anti-Corruption Agency had sent their opinion stating that "the exercise of KBF Chairman in addition of Prime Minister's External Consultant is forbidden ".
"AKK has sent me their opinion stating that" the exercise of KBF Chairman in addition of Prime Minister's External Consultant is forbidden. “Wishing to behave in accordance with the law and expressing consideration for the opinion of AKK, to whom, frankly, I have many reservations, I have decided to respect this opinion and to resign from the post of Chairman of the Basketball Federation of Kosovo, a duty that I have also carried out free of charge, in conformity with the statute of the federation. Wishing to retain the excellent reputation that the Basketball Federation of Kosovo has in the local public and our partners in FIBA and other international organizations, which I believe the team I lead has considerable merit as well as my personal reputation, I decided to withdraw from this post and leave the organs of KBF, according to the Statute and other normative acts in force, to proceed with the organization of the Election Assembly. I am convinced and I would like to ask the Assembly that the Board to continue its excellent teamwork for continuation of basketball's growth and development”, Belegu said in his resignation announcement.
Upon his resignation in front of KBF Board, the latter, in conformity with the Statute of KBF, summoned the Extraordinary Assembly and appointed the date of its holding on 05.04.2018 in Pristina.
