Dear All,
I was forced to present to the Board of the BFK the most painful decision of my mandate - that of canceling the competitions of the Kosovo Super League. At a time like this, when our country is facing an invisible enemy, the basketball community and beyond must show responsibility, unity, and solidarity. Therefore, after consulting with all stakeholders, and after ascertaining that the health of fans, staff, and players should be our priority, the Board of FBK has decided today unanimously to cancel the competitions of the 2019 edition / 20 in the Kosovo Super League and the Women's Basketball Super League.
For our sport, this decision is especially painful, as we were forced to cut off strong competition, with an unpredictable game in terms of the result. and in which the spectators had the main word, which is proven with over 15,000 tickets sold during the Final 8 of the Kosovo Cup in Rahovec. This result was achieved thanks to the commitment of the federation and its human resources and the invaluable role of the federation's media partner – Art Motion, who with dedication has followed our activities and conveyed the emotions of basketball courts in your homes.
We are aware that Kosovo's super league teams have made significant investments this year and have shown a high level of organization, certainly with the expectation that these investments will return to you, but in circumstances when returning to normality is not predictable are exactly these clubs that will benefit the most from today's decision.
Regarding the continuation of the activities of national teams and championships, we will consult with the authorities of our Republic and FIBA.
For the KBF Board, the health of basketball players, staff, fans and all those who contribute to the development of basketball is in the first place.
In the meantime, please accept my wishes and the Kosovo Basketball Federation's wishes for good health and to overcome this situation as soon as possible.
