The Acting Secretary of the Kosovo Basketball Federation (FBK), Elvira Dushku, from 22.01.2018 will perform the duty of the Secretary General.

It was the FBK Board who voted to advance Dushku from the position of acting in that of the Secretary General after her excellent performance testified since 01.02.2017, when she started working as Acting Secretary General.

Dushku has had a great career in basketball, she started playing in 1996 as a 14-year-old in the Pristina-Women team, after the war she was a multiple champion with KB University of Prishtina as well as the Kosovo Cup winner, thus dominating Kosovo women's basketball together with this team for 8 consecutive years. For several years in after the war Dushku was declared the best basketball player in the country.

Dushku with KB The University has competed in the Regional "Trocal League in the 2003/04 season, becoming the first basketball team in Kosovo that broke the isolation. At that time, the University had completed the edition with a place in play-offs.

Dushku has worked as a sports journalist in the daily newspaper "Kosova Sot" from 2007 until 2017, but she never forgot the club where she was grown, KB Prishtina, where she worked on a volunteer basis as trainer and coordinator. In addition to the volunteer work in the club, Dushku from 2011 to 2016 has been the chairwoman of the Board of OESK (Organization for Sport and Education in Kosovo), which was established thanks to the multi-year cooperation of the Swedish Sports Education Organization (SISU) and Sports Federations that operate in Kosovo.

Dushku in KBF was hired in 2015 as Public Relations Officer, while since February 1st, 2017 has been advanced in the position of the Acting Secretary General.

Dushku since 2017 is part of the FIBA ​​Europe Time Out program, a unique project that targets players who have recently retired from basketball and want to continue their career in sports outside the field. There are a total of 80 participants from all over Europe, including 40 women and 40 men who have been or are active in basketball.

With co-funding from the European Union's Erasmus + program and in cooperation with Northumbria University in Newcastle, UK, participants of this program have begun work in terms of gaining a degree in administration, leadership and management.

 

It should be noted that Dushku thus became the first General Female Secretary in all sports federations that operate in Kosovo.
